Lose It! Alternative: Premium, Lifetime or Solin Prime?
Lose It!'s barcode scanner is going Premium, and macro goals already need it. Before you pay $79.99 a year, here's what $77.99 a year gets you on Solin Prime: barcode, photo and voice logging, protein and macro targets set from your goal weight, next week's meals planned for you, and 20% cash back on workout challenges.

What Lose It!'s free plan still does, and what moved
Lose It! Basic is still free. It keeps:
- A daily calorie budget set for you
- The 50M+ food database
- Meal and exercise logging
- Recipes you build by hand
These need Premium:
- Macro goals for protein, carbs and fat
- Photo logging (Snap It) and voice logging
- Logging food for future days
- Intermittent fasting
- Syncing with fitness trackers and apps
The barcode scanner sits in between. Lose It! is moving the barcode and nutrition-label scanners to Premium. Some free members still have them while the change rolls out. Once your account loses them, you need Premium to scan.
The free app also shows ads. A one-time purchase inside the app removes them.
Premium, Lifetime or Prime: what each costs over five years
Lose It! Premium is $79.99 a year. Lifetime is $299.99 once, or $229.99 if you're a paid Premium member now. Solin Prime is $77.99 a year, or $12.99 a month.
Prime costs $2 less a year than Premium: $233.97 against $239.97 after three years. From the fourth year, Lifetime costs less than either yearly plan. By year five it's $299.99, against $389.95 for Prime and $399.95 for Premium.
If Lifetime is tempting, know two things first. Lifetime purchases can't be refunded. And The Lab, a Lose It! feature, is a separate monthly add-on that Lifetime doesn't include. You can cancel Prime anytime in the app, and it comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Why a calorie budget isn't the whole plan if you lift
Lose It! builds your day around a calorie budget. Macro targets sit beside it as separate goals, so when the budget changes, you adjust them by hand.
If you lift, protein is the number to get right. Prime starts there. It sets your daily protein at 1 gram for each pound of the number halfway between your weight today and your goal weight. At 170 pounds with a goal of 150, that's 160 grams. Fat and carbs fill in the rest, and your calories take your activity into account. Strong, not starving.
Then Prime builds your week of meals around your goals and turns it into an Instacart order. Dash, Prime's AI nutrition coach, knows what you've logged, so you can send it a photo of a menu and ask what fits.
Your training lives in the same app. Join a creator's workout challenge on Solin, and Prime pays back 20% of what you paid.
In an App Store review, Lahama14 wrote: "I joined a program on the Solin app, and the coach encourages folks to track macros. Other macro trackers were recommended but I didn’t want to login into a different app". Jaquez e wrote: "I love how easy it is to track my macros and follow meal plans."

Before you cancel Lose It!
Download your history from loseit.com first. Lose It! can export your data, but Prime can't bring it in, so your Prime log starts fresh.
In your first week on Prime, scan the foods you eat most: the yogurt, the oats, the bar in your gym bag. New to counting macros? Start with how to track macros. Leaving MyFitnessPal too? Read our MyFitnessPal alternative page.
